This was our first stop for Houston Restaurant Weeks. We went on a Sunday for brunch. Loved the vibe, ambiance, food, attentive servers, all of it. Pictured from right to left: Croquettes Braves Tomas Drink name - forgot

We went for HRW which was such a great deal. I chose the ultimate croqueta and the bravas Tomas for my appetizers which filled me up. The croqueta was creamy and crisp and the bravas Tomas was a huge portion with yummy garlic aioli. My main entree was the chicken which was tender and delicious. The apple pie was alright, nothing amazing about it, but definitely get the gypsy dessert instead. That one was so much better. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous. It's a very romantic vibe, perfect for dates and intimate conversations. There is free parking attached to the theatre nearby. Service was awesome too. Our server was prompt and attentive.

What a fun and whimsical spot for modern Spanish food! The entire vibe of the restaurant is unique with the red walls and space themed decor. The tables and chairs are quite comfortable and the staff is very friendly. The servers are really excellent and attentive. Came for HRW with a group so was able to try multiple things! The portions for the HRW weee smaller than the normal portions. I got the flor de sol as my cocktail, which was fruity and very pleasant without being overly sweet. They gave everyone complimentary gazpacho foam. An interesting concept, but just not for me. The croquette was very tasty, the outside was perfectly crisp while the inside was smooth and buttery. Could easily eat so many of these. Tuna tartare was unique as it was topped with a red beet foam. Very fresh and flavorful. Bravas tomas was a nice portion of potatoes covered in a tasty sauce similar to an aioli and a bit of spicy oil. Very good, will never say no to Spanish potatoes. Tomato burrata was exactly what I thought it would be with the exception of the clear gelatin that was slightly tomato flavored. Wouldn't necessarily order again, but it was refreshing and light. Eggplant entree was tasty, but overshadowed by the other dishes. Filled with veggies and cashews, it's a nice vegetarian option but just not on the same level as the other dishes. Also a very small portion. Filet mignon was perfectly cooked and wonderfully tender. The red pepper sorbet on the side was really special and paired very well with the meat. I tried a bit of the mad chicken, which was very tender and flavorful and definitely a great entree option if you're not as adventurous of an eater. The seafood paella was probably my favorite entree. Great amount of seafood flavor from the broth, soft and fluffy, and nice bits of clam/seafood throughout. Dessert was my favorite part. The Gypsy arm is unlike any dessert I've had, the sponge cake swirl was so thin but held it's integrity so well. The custard cream filling wasn't overly sweet but was perfectly smooth, and the outside was a little crisp from caramelized sugar. I can't wait to come back and try the regular menu options! Free parking garage behind the building for the whole plaza.

We went for HRW and when our first round of tapas came out. We didn't think we would get full from this meal, but we were pleasantly surprised. My fiance and I got the steak tartare and the croquet for our first dish. The edible newspaper gave the steak tartare a nice little crunch even though it looked a little intimidating. The croquet was crispy on the outside with smooth mashed potato like filling on the inside. Both were very nice bites. Our second dishes were both on the heftier side. We got the bravas tomas and the tuna tartare. Both these dishes were a little on the saltier side, but we like our food a bit saltier so it was fine with us. The potatoes were nice if you want to get full. It's a pretty big shareable portion that you can get for the table to snack on. It's a bit heavy for two people though since you got the aioli and chili oil even for people that like saucy stuff like me. For our last dish we got the burger and I opted to pay an extra $21 for the paella, which was delicious. I thought it was worth the $21 for a portion like that. It came with what seemed like the chicken thigh (although a little bit salty too) had the skin all nice and crispy, but the chicken was still tender. The rice was a nice texture and very flavorful with some nice veggies on the side. We were definitely full after this and if we knew the paella was that big then we would've skipped out on the burger. The burger was nice too and the meat wasn't greasy at all. I love the flavor of the potato bun. What I did not know was that you had to pay for sparkling water. They surprisingly don't tell you this. It's $8 for each bottle you get and we didn't know this so we got asked for another bottle, which means we spent $16 on water. We could've just ordered a drink with that money.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants. The vibe is amazing. The staff are extremely attentive and make every experience great. The food is delicious. Houston restaurant week is a must if you haven't tried it.

Great service at this upscale Spanish restaurant. Was hoping to see Chef Luis since had requested us to try however he was visiting family in Spain. We came for HRW- Houston restaurant week . A portion of proceeds goes to feed the homeless. The ambiance was definitely upscale and full restaurant as soon as opened on a Sunday at 12pm.Had the madcakes with fruit capote that were mostly delicious except for my mouth was burning at end of eating 1.Possible cross contamination of spicy peppers on plate according to our server. I ordered the avocado toast and unfortunately did not able to try since mouth was still burning. My dining companion said it was delicious. He also ordered the chutcuterie platter with +$14 upcharge .It was a large size and looked beautiful for a wine pairing although we did not have drinks. Have been wanting to try MAD for years and will certainly give them another try in the future.

This place is super vibey! If you're looking to have a unique experience for your tastebuds, date night or even girl's night out, this is your place. Make sure you dress to impress, this is not the kind place you go in your everyday casual clothes! I've had dinner at MAD twice and it never disappoints.... The food and service is exceptional and the drinks are top tier. My boyfriend and I always have a great time. On your first visit I recommend getting a few tapas and sharing! This way you can get a feel for the menu. Also don't forget to ask for their award winning dessert!
